Revelation: Illustrator CS4 Selection Tool Won’t Scale

March 18th, 2010

Whenever I get stuck with a CS4 issue, I do what any smart, tech-savvy, genius-type person would do…I Google. If you’re trying to find the answer to this issue: “Illustrator CS4 Selection Tool Won’t Scale”, you’re going to get a lot of results…but if you’re having the problem I was having, all of those results will be WRONG.

ISSUE: When you are using the Selection Tool in Illustrator CS4, you cannot scale objects. You can move them but you cannot re-size or rotate them.

RECOMMENDED SOLUTION: View >> Show Bounding Box

Still not working? My problem too.

ACTUAL SOLUTION: Save your AI projects and close the program. Re-launch the program and immediately hold “SHIFT + CTRL + ALT”, continue holding until AI opens. This will reset your AI preferences…PROBLEM SOLVED!

Yay! The Move Has Been Made!

February 22nd, 2010

I’ve been swamped with projects so my Google to WordPress move was on the back burner. I’ve been getting so many questions about blogging that I HAD to get this finished…so here we are, all moved over and styled, yum.

I have some many exciting updates about my company, and changes that have happened since the New Year…I will update you here soon. Promise!

Weekend Update

Thus far WordPress is everything it claims to be: easy to install, super quick to setup with a great user interface.
Incorporating my site’s design ended up being even easier than I thought! It did take some time, and a lot of staring at the computer screen (since I don’t usually work with php) but I have it all put together, yay!

Just have to work out some styling in the CSS to make everything pretty and then I’m going to make the official switchover. When I have time (maybe next weekend…around the Superbowl, of course) I’m going to add some great widgets and some more posts of my recent projects.

I still feel like I’ve cheated on Google, but I’ll get over it eventually :)

Sorry Google…

Okay, so I finally have some downtime this weekend and have decided to get some work done on my site! After some consideration and searching around the web, I’ve decided to leave blogger and switch to WordPress. So that’s first on my list of “things to do” this weekend.

Dear Google,

I do love you very much, and I use you for a lot of your wonderful features…this is nothing personal, but you’re just lacking in this area and it’s time for me to move on.

Hmmm…Blogger vs. WordPress.

So, I was initially thrilled when I integrated my Blogger blog with my personal website. I am able to keep visitors on my site while they browse the blog and it’s simple to update etc. etc.

But now…I’m trying to add some “jazz” to my site. Among some other additions, I want those fun little, facebook/twitter/rss feed buttons on here. I’ve been meaning to add them for some time but work and deadlines last year kept me pushing my site updates aside.

Well I’ve come to discover (correct me if I’m wrong on this..anyone who knows) that if you host your Blogger blog privately you can’t use the RSS feed feature? This whole thing is new to me and I’m still researching it, but COME ON!

Through what little reading I’ve done on the matter I think I might be better off switching to WordPress and starting over. Arrrrrggg…we’ll see.

I’ll let you know what I decide or if I find a solution to the Blogger issue.

Back to Business

Hey Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with your friends and families.

Drew and I flew back to Chicago for a couple of weeks…weather was pretty mild (30′s) but went into the teens the last couple of days brrrr! But it was wonderful to have snow for the holidays…we even got a fresh 4 inches on Christmas day! It was great to spend time with our families and see our friends, but there never seems to be enough time, no matter how long our visits last.

Well we are back in San Diego (70 and sunny as usual) trying to get back into the swing of things. Catching up on work, bills, cleaning, wife stuff, dog owner stuff, business owner stuff and taxes! By next week I’m hoping for some much needed balance and a consistent schedule.

I apologize for my slow correspondence over the past three weeks, but I’m back working with my iPhone in hand when I’m not in my office…look forward to hearing from all of you soon!

I can now add blogs to your personal and/or business sites. After a day or so of tinkering around after work hours, I figured out how to incorporate Google’s user friendly “Blogger” application into MY beautifully designed (hold the applause) websites. Not only will visitors stay on your site instead of being redirected to an outside blog, but we have the added bonus of presenting a single cohesive style (branding! branding!). If you already have a blogger account set up, you’re half way there! If not, it’s simple and free to start and the user interface is EASY TO USE. Contact me if you are interested!

I Said I Wouldn’t…But I Just Did: Welcome to My Blog.

Hi everyone! Yes, I did it…I’ve resorted to blogging. With all of the traffic my site has been getting I figured it was time to throw some social interaction into the mix. Since I haven’t had the time to get my eNewsletter campaign put together, I thought this would be the next best thing. Here’s what I hope this blog will provide for you (my now and future clientele):

  • Current information on projects I’m currently working on
  • Upcoming changes and additions to my services
  • Marketing tips for promoting you and/or your business
  • Additional web/computer tips to keep you on top of the constant CHANGES
  • Fun updates on Drew, Nilla and I (mostly for our friends and family, but you’re welcome to read along!)

I will do my best to post more than once every two months ha. Any and all feedback is welcome!
